Eight programmes

Eight courses, one Cambridge system

From age 4 to age 70 — from a child's first English word to a professional upgrade. Every age group has its own path and its own level standards.

  • Cambridge A1–C2
  • Mostly one-to-one
  • Measurable progress

The curriculum

Why SOP insists on Cambridge materials

Because the Cambridge system is a map. From beginner to advanced, there is a clear route — so the school knows where a student is now, what comes next, and how to get there step by step.

Many conventional ESL courses concentrate on short-term conversation practice. The student goes home able to chat a little, and then nobody knows what the next step is. We do not want a child to have simply spent a few weeks in Cebu doing English.

Using Cambridge University Press materials means the result is measurable and it transfers. International school entry, IELTS, TOEFL, university admission, later a job abroad — the level carries across. English stops being a summer experience and becomes part of what the student can do.

Choosing the age

When is the right time to come?

Earlier is better. Research suggests that before about age seven, a child absorbs a language in something close to the way they absorbed their first one. But there is no age that is too early or too late — SOP accepts students from 4 to over 70.

Ages 3–7|The window for sound

Through games, interaction, stories and real situations, listening and a feel for the language develop naturally. Pronunciation and listening settle most easily at this stage.

Ages 8–12|Acceleration

Comprehension and study skills are strong enough now to build a complete foundation across listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Ages 13–18|Building an edge

Intensive study during school holidays lifts ability quickly and prepares a student for international schools, study abroad and university entrance.

18 and over|Career and life

Promotion, a career change, study abroad, migration or working overseas — a course built around the individual goal is the efficient route.

50 and over|No pressure

An unhurried pace, everyday conversation, travel English and meeting people from elsewhere. Learning that widens life rather than testing it.

The whole family

A family can enrol together, each in a course designed for their age. Separate classes during the day, the same home in the evening.
