The questions that matter at this age

By 13 to 17, English is no longer about memorising word lists. What counts is:

The Teen Intensive uses the Cambridge KET / PET framework to move a student from learning English to using English.

  • Can they express an idea in English?
  • Can they read international material?
  • Can they hold an academic discussion?
  • Will it carry into university and the workplace?

What KET and PET are

International standards set by the University of Cambridge, recognised by schools, universities and employers worldwide.

  • A2 Key (KET) — can handle everyday English
  • B1 Preliminary (PET) — can use English independently

Speaking, deliberately

The classic problem: a student understands and can write, but will not speak. So speaking gets timetabled, not hoped for:

  • Small-group discussion
  • Situational role play
  • Presentations in English
  • Analysing a problem aloud
  • Debate on a set topic
  • Thinking through in English

Academic English

Conversation is not enough at this stage. Academic English is what university actually requires:

  • Reading long texts for meaning
  • Analysing an article and pulling out the argument
  • Structuring a piece of writing
  • Making a case and defending it

Grouped by ability, not by age

Two fifteen-year-olds can be three to five years apart in English. SOP groups by level, which is uncomfortable to administer and much better for the student.

Confidence in front of strangers

Plenty of students are competent in English and still freeze in front of a foreigner. That is rarely an ability problem. The course works on:

  • Expression
  • Taking the lead
  • Working in a team
  • Communicating across cultures

Why it works here

  • Mostly one-to-one; group classes never exceed six
  • Teachers trained to teach, not just to speak English
  • Progress tracked, so a plateau gets noticed and addressed
  • A hotel-standard campus downtown — safe, comfortable, everything nearby
  • An international environment that continues after class
  • Recruitment commission redirected into teaching equipment

Planning ahead for university?

Tell us the student's current level and what they are aiming at. We will map the levels they need and how long it realistically takes.

How would you like to reach us?

Both are official SOP channels — the same fees, the same courses, the same student protections. If you use neither, email works just as well and reaches the same team.
